Getting Your Hot Tub Ready For Fall

Although some people are sad to see Summer come to an end, Sundance hot tub owners are excited to see the start of Fall as it means the hot tub season has really begun!

With the weather getting cooler and the fact that many of us are generally spending more time at home these days, it really is prime time for enjoying your Sundance hot tub.

Now is a great time to prepare your spa for fall usage. Following the simple steps below will ensure you get the most out of your Sundance hot tub this season!

Drain, Clean & Refill Your Sundance Spa

It makes sense to start the hot tub season with clean, fresh water. Click here for instructions on how to Drain, Clean & Re-Fill your spa.

To give your hot tub's plumbing a thorough cleaning before the harsh winter weather sets in, use Whirlpool Rinse or Spa Marvel Cleanser before you drain your water to flush out the plumbing.

Balance Your Hot Tub Water

Once your spa has been drained, cleaned and re-filled you should make sure your water is correctly balanced and sanitized.

Set The Temperature of Your Spa

A lot of people turn their water temperature down during the Summer, and now is a good time to bring it back up a few degrees so it is nice and warm for you even in the cooler weather.

Many hot tub users prefer a water temperature in the range of 100F-102F, while real heat lovers tend to go for the maximum high of 104F.

Once you find a temperature that everyone agrees on, keep it within that range, as continuously raising and lowering the heat can increase operational costs and have a negative impact on the clarity of your hot tub water.

Clean or Replace Your Hot Tub Filters

The start of a new season is a good time to check on the condition of your filters. If you have a pleated filter cartridge, give it a clean with your garden hose or replace it if necessary.

680 Series models have a 50 Sq Ft pleated cartridge that should be washed every couple of months and replaced annually.

The larger pleated filters featured on 780880 & 980 series spas should be washed periodically and replaced after approximately 18 months depending on spa use.

MicroClean I filters (780 Series) are fully disposable and should be replaced every 3-5 months.

The MicroUltra Inner Core Filter (880 & 980 Series) should be replaced every 6-8 months. Click here for more detailed information on filter care.

Check Your Hot Tub Cover

Fall is also a good time to check on the condition of your hot tub cover. Your cover prevents leaves and dirt from getting into the water, and prevents heat loss to conserve energy.
