Get Your Spa Ready For The Long Weekend!

The Victoria Day long weekend is finally here, and with the long, hard winter behind us, many people are looking for ways to relax and have fun!

Chilling out in your Sundance Spa is a great way to spend some quality time over the long weekend, so here are some tips for making sure your hot tub is in tip top condition and ready to go.

Drain & Reifll Your Spa

If you haven't already done it, the long weekend is a good time to drain and re-fill your spa.

To drain the water from your Sundance hot tub, you must first turn off the power. With the power off, attach your garden hose to the spa's drain to syphon out the water.

Drain locations vary from series to series. 680 Series spas have an exterior drain on the bottom of the right hand side panel at the front of the spa.

On a 780 Series Spa, the drain is located in the top right corner of the equipment bay, so you need to remove the front panel to access it. 880 & 980 Series Spas have a built-in Quick Drain located in the equipment bay. For more information on how to drain & re-fill your spa, read here.

Sanitize & Balance Your Spa Water

With the warmer weather there is likely to be more oils, lotions and sunscreen ending up in your hot tubs water that can cause cloudiness and foaming if not dealt with properly.

Be sure to add your Sun-Boom hot tub sanitizer as required and use Chlorine Free Spa Shock to break down any organics that make their way in to your water. Setting your Primary Filter to the maximum setting will help keep your water clean and clear during periods of heavy use. Get more information on filter settings here.

It is recommended that you use a test strip at least once a week to check your hot tub water is adequately sanitized and correctly balanced. Read here for more information on balancing your hot tub water.

Check Your Spa Filters
Your Sundance hot tub filters work hard to keep your water clean and fresh, so after a long hard winter you should check what sort of condition they are in and either clean or replace them as needed.

Different filters require different maintenance, so use this guide below to ensure you are looking after your filters correctly.

680 Series Filters50 Sq Ft -  The 680 Series filters should be removed and cleaned once a month and replaced once a year.‚Äč

780 Series FiltersMicoClean 1 Filter System – The 780 Series uses a two-piece filter system. The large pleated filter should be removed and cleaned every 2-3 months, and replaced every 18 months. The smaller filter (MicroClean 1) is a fully disposable filter and should not  be cleaned. This filter should be replaced every 3-4 months.

880 & 980 Series FiltersMicroUltra Filter System – The 880 & 980 Series use a two-piece filtration system. The large Outer filter should be removed and cleaned every 2-3 months, and replaced every 18 months. The Inner Micro Core filter is fully disposable and should not  be cleaned. This filter should be replaced every 6-9 months.

All Pleated Filters should be cleaned with a solution at least once a year to remove organic matter from the filters pleats.

Rinsing with a regular garden hose will keep debris at bay, but a deep cleanse with a Cartridge Cleaner or AquaMagic will increase the efficiency of your Sundance hot tub filters, help your pumps perform at their best and keep your water looking and feeling great.

Have Fun!

There is a time to just sit back and relax in the peace and quiet, and there is a time to have fun! Here are a few ways to add some fun to your hot tub soak:

Play Some Games:

There are some great games that you can play while sitting in your Sundance hot tub.

Purchase a set of waterproof playing cards (available in-store) and bring game night out to your hot tub! Enjoy some poker, gin rummy, go fish and more as the jets and warm water ease away the tension in your body.

"Battle Ducks" is a game that the the kids will love, and all you need is a hot tub and 2 rubber ducks. Divide the hot tub users up into two teams, and give each team a duck. The object of the games is to make your duck touch one of the opposing team's players before they can get their duck to touch one of your team. Place the ducks in the water and using only water, jets and air, aim your duck at the other team.

Project Your Favourite Movie:

Hot Tub Cinema is a real thing. People around the world have been to pop up events where dozens of portable hot tubs are set up in front of a big screen so they can enjoy a soak while watching the latest blockbuster!

With your own Sundance hot tub, you can project a movie on to a screen, or even your open hot tub cover and stream the sound through your bluetooth speakers for awesome surround sound - It's the ultimate movie experience!
